Facebook Connect is Live!

Posted by birdman at August 5th, 2009, in Rally Machine

We know it’s long overdue, but we’re proud to finally announce that Carbonrally is linked to Facebook. This means we can now harness the power of Facebook to spread the word about the Rally and get others on board!

What it does: If you “connect” your Carbonrally account to Facebook, the following will happen:

1. Your Carbonrally activities (challenges, workshop ideas, comments) will appear in your Facebook news feed.

2. You will be able to invite friends to Carbonrally or your Carbonrally Team using your Facebook Friends List.

How to connect:

1. Click on a blue Facebook Connect button on your profile (‘my carbon”) page, or in the invitation forms.
2. Make sure you are logged-into Facebook while using Carbonrally…. that’s it

How to disconnect: If you no longer want your Carbonrally and Facebook accounts linked:

1. Go to the “applications” button in the lower left of your Facebook screen. From there you will see Carbonrally appear on a list of applications.
2. Delete Carbonrally and confirm the deletion.
3. You can always connect again later

Give it a try, and please let us know if you have any feedback about how to improve this feature. Thanks!

I had problems with connecting Carbonrally to Facebook. It is not showing up in my applications.

Hmmm. It should show up in your list of Facebook applicatons, when you sort the applications by “allowed to post”. If you don’t see it there. Please test Facebook connect by taking an action on Carbonrally (post a message somewhere, accept a challenge, write workshop sugestion) and see if the action appears on your wall. Make sure you are logged into Facebook while taking the actions on Carbonrally. Please let me know if this doesn’t work! Thanks, admin@carbonrally.com

Guys, you gotta have a twitter presence—maybe you already do, but I could find the info on it.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of Cause and Green friendly twitterers out there and if you sat down and committed 20-30 minutes a day to it, you have much greater awareness and ideally, with cool posts, you’d have peeps retweeting the info the their followers. I know it all sounds a little hokey, by virtue of its name (twitter), but it’s value is real and it’s cost in nil (okay, time is money, so it’s a bit).

I have just under 800 followers from Boston to San Fran to New Zealand and I just posted this: ‘Latest: Check out carbonrally.com – 29,907 Rallyers have reduced CO2 emissions by 4,060.7+ tons so far! = taking 795 cars off road for 1 yr ’ (key is to not use all the characters alolotted, so others can ReTweet you).

BTW, I went to school w/ Jay Karas, so I think he can vouch for me being pretty straight-up.

Cheers,

Holt Murray
